OilyHairSuffering from oily hair? Below are some tips on using oily hair shampoo effectively.

* Shampoo your hair often – Experts have recommended that in order to fight an excessive oily scalp is to shampoo everyday especially if you are living in urban areas. When humidity and heat induce the scalp’s oil glands, it is then advisable that you need to shampoo at least twice a day. These sebaceous glands are continuously producing oil. The needed action is to keep up with those secretions and remove it.
* Prefer shampoo that contains ingredient like the tea tree oil because it can work well in relieving dry scalp. The primary cause of oily hair is the dry scalp.
* A see-through shampoo is recommended because these clear shampoos have less thick and vicious ingredients in them. They can clean and remove oil better without residues behind.
* You need a scalp massage that must be done during shampooing. Never massage the scalp between shampoos because it may extract little bit of oil out.
* For those hairs that experience excessive oil, they need to be shampooed twice a day. The common misconception is that people do not leave shampoo in their scalp long enough. For people with oily hair, it is suggested that each time you shampoo, leave it on the scalp for 5 minutes.
* If you need a conditioner, look for a conditioner that has the least amount of oil or if possible use a product that is oil-free. Focus on conditioning the ends and not the roots.
* Shampooing can take away the oil in the hair. So, don’t be careless on applying the shampoo. Test your hair that if after applying the shampoo and drying it, observe if it still feels oily. If it’s still oily, you have not cleaned it well.
* Applying a homemade astringent directly to the scalp can aid in slowing down the secretion of oil. A mixture of witch hazel and mouthwash, damp cotton pad and apply it to the scalp only. The mouthwash has a property like that of antiseptic, while the witch hazel serves as an astringent. If your scalp has too much oil, you can apply this mixture every time you shampoo.
* Another alternative is the squeezed juice of lemons with the distilled water and rinse it remove the oiliness in the hair.
* Lastly, a healthy diet and drinking plenty of liquids can lessen dry skin and scalp. Since dry scalp can lead to oily hair, your diet greatly affects the quantity of the oil produced by your scalp.

I’ve had oily hair since I was in Middle School/Junior High. For 20+ years, I used the same over-the-counter oily hair formula shampoo. Then, about 2 years ago, I tried using a variety of regular shampoos, but my hair would get oily and stringy by the end of the day. I had to wash my hair every day.

Then, my hair-stylist suggested the Tea + Protein Shampoo from the Made from Earth line. I was hesitant at first because I didnt think organic shampoos were anything special, but I decided to try it.

It took a few tries, but now I only have to wash my hair every other day! Hooray! Its a thick shampoos so it doesnt run through my fingers and down the drain before I can even get it onto my hair!

I saw a HUGE improvement on my oily hair – highly recommended if you are trying to have normal hair. To avoid overdrying, I use their Made from Earth conditioner also.
